At 23 years old, Dr. Karthik Iyer graduated in the top 10% of his class at Northeast Ohio Medical University after completing a 6 year BS/MD program, in which he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in two years, graduating with the summa cum laude distinction. While studying, Dr. Iyer conducted dermatological research on photodynamic therapy and increasing its efficacy in the treatment of skin cancer at Lerner Research Institute of the Cleveland Clinic. He then completed a year of preliminary medicine residency at Akron General Medical Center and graduated in the top 10% of his class with an M.D. and served as a Dermatology Research Fellow at The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates studying the relationship between psoriasis and quality of life.
Dr. Iyer has several years of experience tutoring students in several entrance examinations, including the SAT, ACT, MCAT, and DAT through The Princeton Review. He performed exceptionally well on his USMLE steps with his highest score being a 273 on Step 2 CK. As such, he currently teaches students for the Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3 examinations for Residents Medical.
Outside of helping others, Dr. Iyer is an active member of MENSA, after achieving a score in the 99th percentile on their IQ entrance exam. When relaxing, Dr. Iyer can be found playing the position of a defensive starter for Sporting FC in the Men's Premier Division of NVSL, in addition to breakdancing and bhangra dancing.
