MD, MS, PGY-2 Ophthalmology
Sarwar Zahid was born in Bangladesh and grew up in Queens in New York City. He went to Stuyvesant High School in Manhattan and decided to remain in NYC to attend complete a BA in Biology and an MS in Chemistry at NYU. His interest in science and experience with developmental genetics research at NYU and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center drove his interest in a career in medicine.
He began his medical training at the University of Michigan Medical School in 2008 and completed an additional year of research in retinal diseases and imaging at the Kellogg Eye Center. He fell in love with ophthalmology and matched at the NYU Ophthalmology residency program.
After completing a PGY-1 year at the Henry Ford Hospital, he moved back home to New York City. He currently lives in Manhattan and is halfway through his first year of ophthalmology residency. He has a tremendous interest in medical education and hopes to continue to teach medical students and residents throughout his career.
