Anderson Penha, MD, MAS, MPH is a board-certified physician in private practice in Southern California, specializing in Interventional Pain Medicine. Originally from Brazil, Dr. Penha has trained and worked across prestigious West Coast institutions, including UC San Diego, UCLA, and the University of Washington, building a strong background in clinical research, medical education, and patient-centered care.
Since immigrating to the United States approximately 11 years ago, Dr. Penha has independently mentored more than 30 IMGs, U.S. graduates, and physicians pursuing residency and fellowship training in the U.S. His mentees have come from Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Canada, Jordan, Syria, Pakistan, India, and the United States, and have successfully matched into both primary care and competitive surgical specialties. His firsthand IMG experience, multilingual fluency, and cross-cultural perspective allow him to guide candidates with insight, empathy, and clear, time-bound strategy as they navigate the complexity of the U.S. medical training system.
