It's Men's Health Month, and we at Residents Medical are dedicating time to raising awareness about promoting healthy lifestyles by strengthening mental health.
Historically, mental health discussions have been stigmatized, particularly regarding men seeking help or expressing emotions. Other key factors influencing men's mental health include societal expectations of masculinity, cultural norms, and gender stereotypes, which lead many men to suffer in silence, harming their overall well-being.Â
Creating supportive environments and encouraging open conversations are ways we as a community can start helping the men in our lives feel comfortable discussing their feelings and thoughts.
Steps you can take to ensure better mental and physical health include:
- Regular daily exercise
- Maintain a balanced diet
- Get sufficient sleep
- Manage stress
- Avoid drugs and excess alcoholÂ
However, if you feel like you cannot cope with your problems or stress, seek professional help. Remember, you are not alone, and there are steps you can take to support your emotional well-being.
